Margaret Griffin

Margaret Griffin was born in Buffalo, NY, the only child of Francis and Patricia Griffin. Her father was an established local politician on the city council who was then elected to the New York State Assembly. From an early age, Margaret would often accompany her father when he campaigned, and thus began her foray into media limelight! Margaret would travel with her father to functions and events where she met the likes of Nelson Rockefeller, Pat Nixon, Jack Kemp, Bobby Kennedy, and Tim Russert to name a few. Meeting celebrities like Bob Hope and Muhammad Ali will stay in her memory for a lifetime.

Margaret graduated magna cum laude with two Bachelor’s degrees in communications and business from the State University of New York at Buffalo, working in the media industry simultaneously, from 1981 – 1988.

In 1991, Margaret started her own business, Griffin Advertising, working full time and raising 3 boys while juggling a great deal of charity work. From 1990 – 1997, Margaret worked through the diocese of Buffalo donating Christmas gifts to families in need. In 1993, she was chairperson of Kiwanis benefiting Children’s Hospital Trauma Center of Buffalo, NY. In 1994, she received an outstanding citizen award from the Coalition of Adoption Services of Erie and Niagara Counties. Also in 1994, she received an award from Wendy’s International for Outstanding effort in the Charity she established with Wendy’s – Adopting Hope which entailed an auction and celebrity golf tournament raising money for special needs adoption. The award was presented by Dave Thomas himself.

In 1995, she received a citation from New York State for Outstanding Citizen for volunteer work on the New York State Domestic Violence Awareness campaign. In 1996, Margaret received an award from the Buffalo and Niagara Sales and Marketing Executive and an appreciation award for her voluntary services from the Chamber of Commerce. Margaret also served on the board of Mt. Mercy Academy, her alma mater, for 5 years.

In 1998, Margaret moved her family and business to Charlotte, NC, where she expanded her business to covering over 120 markets across the US and Canada, and raised her 3 children and 3 step children.

Today Griffin Media is a well established company that is respected in the industry for attention to detail, quality of service, and effective media buying solutions.
